Eurex is one of the world's leading derivatives exchanges, providing European benchmark derivatives featuring open and low-cost electronic access globally. Its electronic trading and clearing platform offers a broad range of products, and amongst others operates the most liquid fixed income markets[citation needed]. Eurex was established in 1998 with the merger of Deutsche Terminborse (DTB, the German derivatives exchange) and SOFFEX (Swiss Options and Financial Futures).

Eurex is considered one of the "big three" derivative exchanges, along with NYSE Euronext Liffe and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. It is owned by Deutsche Borse and SIX Swiss Exchange.

독일거래소(Deutsche Boerse) 그룹 산하의 파생상품 거래소로 상장종목수, 거래량 등에서 미국 CME 그룹과 함께 세계 양대 파생상품거래소.
프랑크푸르트 거래소(주식), Eurex(파생상품), Clearstream(예탁결제) 등을 운영 또는 자회사로 두고 있는 범유럽 거래소.
독일거래소 그룹(DB)과 스위스거래소 그룹(SIS)이 공동 소유하고 있으며 Eurex 취리히와 Eurex 프랑크푸르트가 각 국의 법에 따라 독립법인으로 운영되고 있음.

한국거래소(KRX)는 EUREX와 공동으로 2010년 8월 30일 코스피200 옵션 연계시장을 개설하기로 확정, 발표하였음.
코스피200 선물, 옵션의 24시간 매매체제가 구축됨.
